The salvation army ridge meadows ministries - Community Meal Program
School Lunch Bags
In partnership with Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Community Services, we provide over 180 nutritious bagged lunches to school children each day. After being prepared in The Salvation Army Ridge Meadows kitchen, the lunches are delivered to schools by volunteer drivers to the school offices. The lunches are then discreetly distributed by school staff members to the kids who need them. Our belief is that all children need and deserve proper nutrition in order to learn to their fullest potential. The school lunch bag program helps provide at least one meal per day to these vulnerable kids.
The Salvation Army Ridge Meadows serves one community meal every day to the public, 365 days per year. Lunch is served on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12:00pm - 1:00pm. Supper is served on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00pm - 6:00pm. Doors open 30 minutes prior to meal time. Every meal is prepared in our kitchen by professional staff and follows nutritional guidelines. 93% of the people who attend our Community Meal Program are residents of Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows.
Every Friday night, The Salvation Army and a group of volunteers serve meals, warm drinks and provide a listening ear to people in our community from our Community Crisis Response Vehicle in the downtown core of Maple Ridge. For people in-need who don't feel comfortable coming to The Salvation Army for meals, this provides an alternative for them to find food and fellowship.
Emergency Food Hampers
Working with various community agencies, The Salvation Army Ridge Meadows Ministries assists individuals and families, providing food hampers on an emergency basis. We also provide Adopt-A-Family Christmas hampers in December.
